WILL Lab is a pioneer project in Portugal, inspired in the models of the US universities writing centers, in particular of Stony Brook University (New York), with whom we keep an informal partnership. We aim to contribute to the development of competences of academic writing in English, paramount in the contemporary work context, where multiculturalism is becoming more and more relevant. Our focus is to improve the critical capabilities of the writers that come to us, in order for them to attain autonomy as thinkers and citizens.

We invite the students and the personnel of the UL to make an individual appointment with our tutors (FLUL’s students of the 1st  and 2nd Cycles), whichever is the phase and/or the content of their work. We support your writing from the moment of generating ideas and making an outline, throughout the several drafts until the final version.

We have prepared several flash workshops (between 15 minutes and 1h) that can be implemented in classrooms or on request . Address topics that we consider important in the writing process, from the moment of generating ideas, through the structuring of the text, to the organization of a bibliography or material to support an oral presentation. The “How” title seeks to underline one component of our approach – How to brainstorm, how to use free writing to generate ideas, how to organize an outline, how to cite and write a bibliography, how to make a brochure.

The tutoring sessions are free of charge and don’t recquire any scheduling.
