José Rodrigues Miguéis lived in New York between 1935 and 1980. The session will look at his literary creation in New York, taking into account how he legitimizes it through his own experience. Starting from the transatlantic dimension and the multicultural context of New York, it will be possible to observe the autobiographical facet of the writer, in the footsteps of the American literary tradition.
Bio: Ana Aguilar Franco, a member of CEAUL, has a degree in Translation from ISLA. At the University of Lisbon, she obtained a BA in English and German Studies; an MA in English Studies on Ralph Waldo Emerson, as well as a PhD in Literature and Culture Studies – American Studies, with a thesis entitled José Rodrigues Miguéis: Traveler between cultures.
