Conversa e Leitura com Yvonne Adhiambo Owuor
No âmbito do Congresso Internacional Representations of Home in Literatures and Cultures in English — (Dis)locations: The Shifting Thematics of Home, a comissão organizadora tem o prazer de convidar todos os investigadores, colaboradores e interessados para o evento “Conversa e Leitura com Yvonne Adhiambo Owuor” que terá lugar no Sábado 24 de junho às 17h00, na Livraria Almedina Rato, Rua da Escola Politécnica 225.
O evento será em inglês e inclui uma conversa com a autora, leitura de excertos dos seus romances Dust (2014) e The Dragonfly Sea (2019) e sessão de autógrafos.
A autora é uma das oradoras convidadas para o RHOME 2023.
Nota biográfica:
Author of the well-received Dust (Knopf, 2014), and the Dragonfly Sea (Knopf, 2019), Kenya-born Yvonne Adhiambo Owuor obtained a BA from the Kenyatta University, an MA from the University of Reading, UK, and an MPhil (Creative Writing) from the University of Queensland, Brisbane. From 2003 to 2005, she was the director of the Zanzibar International Film Festival. Her story, “The Weight of Whispers”, earned her the Caine Prize for African Writing in 2003. Her other works are to be found in different publications, including National Geographic. For her artistic achievements, Owuor, in 2016 was awarded the (Kenya) Head of State Commendation. She is currently working on her next novel.
