Date: February 14-25, 2011
Venue: Instituto Camões
This event is part of Life Down Under – Australian Literature and Culture, an international conference hosted by Faculdade de Letras, University of Lisbon, on 13 and 14 February 2011. Australian Aboriginal art is part of a rich cultural heritage and seeks its inspiration from traditional myths, stories, spirits, symbols and also from the Australian fauna and flora.
The exhibition features works of art from the Australian Embassy’s collection, by two contemporary indigenous artists, Dennis Nona and Alick Tipoti, along with works by other artists. A short film featuring the official apology to Australia’s Indigenous Peoples is included in this event. A number of books and maps of Australia from the Faculty of Letters’ Library will also be on display.
