Reception and Translation Studies (RG 6)
RG6 Reception and Translation Studies fosters and disseminates research on translation as a cultural, social and historical phenomenon by implementing fundamental and applied research and dissemination projects.
Linguistics: Language, Culture and Society (RG 5)
Considering that the study of language should take into account its social and cultural contexts, this research group focusses on two main topics: (a) Global Englishes (English as a Lingua Franca/ English as an International Language/World Englishes) & interculturality, and (b) the historical linguistic exchanges between English and Portuguese.
Other Literatures and Cultures in English (RG 4)
Research Group 4 of the University of Lisbon Centre for English Studies (ULICES) focuses on the literatures and cultures in English that have emerged as autonomous areas of study in the last decades of the twentieth century in Australia, Canada, the Caribbean, Ireland, Nigeria, South Africa, and South Asia.
American Studies (RG 3)
This research group focuses specifically on the area of American Studies, an academic field characterized by interdisciplinary and intercultural dialogues, combining literary and historiographical approaches in its methodology.
English Studies: Culture (RG 2)
Research Group 2 specialises in English Culture Studies with an emphasis on a cultural approach developed in the Department of English of the School of Arts and Humanities of the University of Lisbon during the last two decades of the 20th century.
English Studies: Literature (RG 1)
The goal of this Research Group is to develop research focused on English Literature, from the medieval to the digital age, and on literary theory, criticism and history.
