Project DECONSTRUCT: International Stakeholder Event in Budapest, 15 April 2026
Within the framework of the EU-funded DECONSTRUCT project, an International Stakeholder Event was held on 15 April at Európa Pont, Budapest. The event brought together educators, policymakers and experts to reflect on the project’s results and exchange knowledge on countering Holocaust distortion and disinformation. Researchers from the University of Lisbon Centre for English Studies (CEAUL/ULICES), representing the Portuguese project team, also contributed to the event. The event created an important space for dialogue between research, education and policy, focusing on the growing challenges posed by Holocaust distortion and antisemitism in both digital and public spheres. Participants explored key insights into contemporary forms of distortion, reviewed the research findings and educational tools developed within DECONSTRUCT, discussed international and local good practices, and shared practical classroom experiences. A central message that emerged from the event was the vital role of education and media literacy in fostering critical thinking, addressing distortion and strengthening democratic resilience.
