Ana Rito (1978)
Visual artist working on several media and supports – photography, video, sculpture. Author of Casa de Bonecas – Propostas Contemporâneas sobre a Mulher e a Subjectividade (Museu Colecção Berardo: Lisbon, 2009).
Since 2002, her work has featured on several collective exhibitions, namely: The Opposite Direction/Easily Reversible (Galeria ZDB, Lisbon, 2002); VV2 Recycling The Future, 50th Venice Biennial (2003); Faccia Lei (Spazio Thetis, Arsenale Novissimo, Venice, 2007); Beauty and the Beast (Museum Residenzgalerie, Salzburg, 2007); Amália, Coração Independente (Museu Colecção Berardo, 2009). She has also been showcased in the following individual exhibitions: Intensive Care (Módulo – Centro Difusor de Arte, Lisboa, 2002); Melancolia (Círculo de Artes Plásticas de Coimbra, 2006); Powerful Acrobat (Mario Mauroner Contemporary Art, Vienna, 2007) and Puppe Project (Mario Mauroner Contemporary Art, Vienna, 2010).
In 2009, she has curated, along with Hugo Barata, the exhibition She Is a Femme Fatale, on female artistic practice(s) (CCB, Museu Colecção Berardo, Dec. 2009-Jan. 2010). In April 2010, the 2nd series of this same exhibition has opened in Campus de Caparica, Faculdade de Ciências e Tecnologia da Universidade Nova de Lisboa.
Conversation on the work of visual artist Louise Bourgeois (Paris, 1911) so as to understand her artistic career and to analyze the construction of her plastic discourse in the North-American art scene.
